International Women’s Day 2011

Celebrate your women! Today is International Women’s Day, a date that has been celebrated since the early 1900’s. Celebrating the advancement of women in all aspects of life, International Women’s Day also highlights the inequalities women still face as well as the global violence that they endure. But in our humble option, one day is not enough to celebrate women, so celebrate all month-long! March is Women’s History month! This year’s theme is “Our History is Our Strength”. And what better place to discover our history then in the collections of the Library of Congress! The LOC website has resources for teachers as well as videos, audios, photographs and more! So check it out – because in knowledge there is strength!
